In addition to this web-based project report, a CD-ROM was prepared to store all the project data.  It contains a number of data files that can be viewed, downloaded, copied or otherwise manipulated by future planners for Rancho San Eduardo.  The following list briefly outlines the data file structure and contents of each folder.

"frontera

  • This is the main folder.  It includes all the .htm report files, several .xls spreadsheet files, .pdf acrobat files and all the data folders.

"frontera/_borders"

  • This is a folder created for managing the web-based report elements.  No useful data.

"frontera/aerialphotos"

  • This folder includes four black and white aerial photos that can be loaded as GIS themes or viewed as TIFF images.

"frontera/arcexplorer"

  • This folder includes the ArcExplorer software.

"frontera/gpsdata"

  • This folder includes two sub-folders: "trip1" and "trip2." These folders include shapefiles of all the GPS data collected in the field during spring 2000.

"frontera/images"

  • This folder includes all images used in the main report, including .jpg files of the suitability modeling process and results.

"frontera/maps"

  • This folder includes five color scans of Mexican thematic maps that can be loaded as GIS themes or viewed as TIFF images.

"frontera/models"

  • This folder includes three sub-folders for the three suitability models: human settlement, agriculture, and preservation.  These folders include all the data used to build, run and view the suitability models. These files can be viewed with any standard GIS software, but are too complex to be viewed with ArcExplorer.

"frontera/presentation

  • This folder includes two ArcView project files that can be used as visual aids to present the Visión: Frontera project.  One project includes layouts to present the shapefiles, while the other includes layouts for presenting the models.

"frontera/shapefiles"

  • This folder includes two sub-folders: "1978" and "2000."  These folders include shapefiles of all the GIS data digitized from the 1978 maps and shapefiles of all data field-collected during spring 2000, respectively.
